“We were fortunate enough to secure a cell that had an important and famous past as our private cellar. It makes for a great introduction to our visitors retelling the history of Pentridge and our cell, whether it is to family, friends or business associates.

With the help of the Pentridge Cellars team, we were able to custom build our cellar. We had a range of designs to choose from and then we personalised it to suit our needs. We were after enough room to be able to have tastings in our cellar – we installed wine racks on one wall and shelves and cupboards on another, allowing us to hold a number of bottles. We left one wall blank and we added a small table with four fold-up stools, which has been fantastic to be able to have cheese and biscuits with a wine tasting and usually finishes up a bottle.

Living in a regional city and owning a small piece of special real estate in the heart of Melbourne is a great excuse to visit the city and make a day out of it. We rate our buying process not as a sale but as a purchase. There was no pressure. This is something unique and something you want to own, and we were informed all the way and there was minimal correspondence to deal with.

We have already used the concierge service for deliveries and when we take cases to the cellar there is even a trolley that can be used. We always make a point of selecting a nice bottle of wine to take home and enjoy which allows us the opportunity to be able to restock the cellar as we visit different wineries over time. We have also been invited to exclusive wine tasting evenings that are hosted for cellar owners and selected guests.

My advice would be to get in before it’s too late. Be part of this unique experience and the cellar community but remember if you don’t drink your good wine they will drink it at your wake.”
